BCDC's rich history (since 1968) of imaginative programming in both athletic and non sports-related activities takes place on our beautiful and pristine 24-acre campsite. At Brookhaven we are the only day camp on Long Island that can boast having a natural lake. Special Events
Every day is a special day at BCDC with fun and new surprises, but we extend that to make many days “super special.” We include these “super special days” to go beyond the extraordinary every day thrills and enjoyment to ensure that your child will have memories of these days that they will cherish and remember forever. Some of those magic moments here at camp were Sleigh Riding in July, Jell-O Wrestling, Learning to Juggle, Spin Plates and using Chinese Devil Sticks, Petting and Feeding Exotic Animals, Camel and Elephant Rides, Meeting an Olympic Gold Medal Gymnastics Star, Meeting Famous Sports Stars and many, many more. Every year new and exciting special events are combined with our fun filled favorites.
Our Special Events Calendar illustrates the many exciting “Super Special” days planned for each summer and we are certain that every child will leave camp with that special feeling of having participated in something that they never imagined possible. There is nothing that can compare to a Brookhaven Summer.
Meet The Directors of Suffolk County's Finest Day Camp
Michael Pollack
Michael Pollack has owned and operated Brookhaven Country Day Camp and Preschool since 1968. He taught business law and accounting for 20 years in the Valley Stream School District and has a Bachelors and Masters degree. His desire is to see every camper develop emotionally, socially and physically beyond their limits while believing in themselves and feeling a strong sense of accomplishment. His goal for each camper, as a parent of two and grandfather of four, is to see every child "growing" while respecting the value of others.
Dr. Neil Pollack
Dr. Neil Pollack has had the privilege of owning and operating Brookhaven Country Day Camp and Preschool since 1968. He also taught Biology and Earth Science for twenty years in Brentwood. He has Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Education. He knows that campers attending Brookhaven will create wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
His two children attended Brookhaven for many years, and he is now a proud grandfather. Neil has dedicated his camp life to making life-altering experiences for children.
Matthew Baumann
Matthew Baumann is the staff and program director and has been with Brookhaven Country Day Camp since 1987. Matthew is always involved in every special event and dress up day and his costumes are the best. He is a teacher at Ward Melville High School but his true passion is camp.
He has dedicated his life to see, not only his own children, but also every child emerge from Brookhaven as a more well-rounded and developed person.

With over 50 years experience in preschool and childcare we maintain a positive, secure, nurturing environment where young children can develop a love of learning. We give you peace of mind that your child’s personal well-being and development is of the utmost importance to us. LI’s finest preschool serves Yaphank, Coram, Middle Island, Ridge, Manorville, Shirley, Mastic, Mastic Beach, Patchogue, Bellport, Brookhaven, Holtsville, Farmingville, Shoreham.
At Brookhaven creative and inventive expression is an important part of camp. Whether designing rockets for liftoff, sand sculptures, their own tie-dye tee shirt, ceramic bowls or the many other exciting projects, our campers develop new interests and many skills where they can showcase their talents. Through our arts programs we are able to encourage self-expression in these activities that can be brought home as mementos to cherish as wonderful memories of past summers.

It’s been several years since I attended Brookhaven. Even though I remember my counselors and friends, until this summer I didn’t realize the truth in your motto, “We Are Family”. The B-5 group leader and counselor, as well as Bernie, helped my brother through what is perhaps the most difficult thing that a child can go through. I thank you for everything that you have done for my brother.
I’d like to say thank you for making the summer very enjoyable, fun-filled and rewarding camp experience for our son Darren. He so enjoyed it very much. He was particularly fond of his counselor. Every day seemed to be a learning experience for him as well as with the wide variety of activities offered. He’s looking forward to another great summer at camp.
I want to thank you for the grand time George had at Brookhaven Day Camp last summer. He came home each day bubbling over with stories about boating, swimming and enormous projects. He loves it as you can see he is going again this year.
My husband and I would like to thank all of you for making our daughter’s first camp experienced so wonderful. She can’t wait for camp to start and move into G-2. Enclosed you will find an application for next summer. We do have one request if it is at all possible. A young lady by the name of Gina was our bus driver. We can’t rave enough about her. If she is returning to camp next summer and could have Dana on her route, we all would love it. In the meantime, we hope you all have a great winter and we look forward to next summer at Brookhaven Day Camp.
